The National Weather Service on Monday issued an excessive heat warning for parts of Southern California, as well as Nevada, as a significant heat wave moved into the region.

Forecasters said thunderstorms are possible tonight and that portions of the Mojave Desert will experience highs well above 100 and lows that probably won't dip below 90. These conditions will remain through Sunday, according to the NWS. Similar forecasts were made for Las Vegas and surrounding areas.

During this heat wave, temperatures in the Antelope and Santa Clarita Valley could hit 110, while the Central Coast could see temperatures of 105. Downtown L.A.'s highs are likely to remain in the 90s, according to the NWS.

Humidity will continue to rise as the week progresses.
